Stillingsbeskrivelsen fra UMag Solutions

Do you want to be part of a leading High-Tech company, deeply engaged in drone magnetic demining activities around the world?

About us

UMag Solutions is a High-Tech company founded in Copenhagen in 2018, as a spin-out company from DTU Space. Our trade is drone magnetic technologies, using in-house developed and patented survey systems and software solutions.

At UMag, we intend to be the leading provider of drone magnetic turnkey solutions, and we aim to always push the technological and operational boundaries for what is possible.

Our main focus is drone magnetic demining, where our V2Mag and F1Mag systems are currently the world’s industry leading on sensitivity and user friendliness.

Job Description

We are looking for a Hardware Prototype Technician or a person with similar practical experience and technical skills to join our R&D team. The role is focused on building, assembling, testing, documenting, and improving prototype electronics and system hardware for our drone-based magnetic survey systems.

You will work closely with the electronics, software, and mechanical R&D teams to prepare systems for development testing, field testing, and early-customer use. The tasks include assembling electronic subsystems, integrating payload electronics, preparing test setups, building cable assemblies, and supporting the troubleshooting and repair of prototype and production-adjacent systems.

The position includes hands-on work with both off-the-shelf and custom-made electronics. You will help ensure that prototypes are built consistently, tested properly, and documented clearly so that designs can mature from R&D prototypes into stable production processes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assemble prototype electronics, payload components, and system-level hardware.
  • Prepare systems for lab testing, field testing, customer demonstrations, and production handover.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, fault finding, repair, and verification of electronics and complete systems.
  • Document build processes, wiring, assembly steps, test procedures, and repair methods.
  • Build, modify and repair cable assemblies, connectors and electronics assemblies.
  • Support the transition from prototype builds to repeatable production processes.
  • Assist customer support with repairs, custom modifications, and technical investigations when required.
  • Work closely with electronics, software, and mechanical colleagues to identify practical design improvements.
  • Maintain workshop, lab, tooling, and test equipment in an organized and production-ready state.

In summary, you will help us build, test, document, troubleshoot, and improve the electronics and hardware systems that support our drone magnetic solutions

Qualifications

As an Electronics Prototype Technician, your qualifications should include:

  • Practical education or professional experience in electronics, electrical assembly, mechatronics, automation technology, or a related technical field.
  • Hands-on experience with electronics assembly, soldering, crimping, connector work, production of cable assemblies, and mechanical integration of electronics.
  • Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, schematics, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Experience using electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, and continuity testers.
  • Practical troubleshooting skills for electronics, cables, connectors, sensors, power systems, and embedded hardware.
  • Experience documenting assembly procedures, test results, repair actions, and production-relevant work instructions.
  • Good understanding of quality, repeatability, and careful workmanship in prototype and low-volume production environments.
  • Ability to work independently in a workshop or lab environment while coordinating closely with R&D engineers.
  • Written and oral English at a professional working level.

Other valued experience:

  • Experience with PCB rework, soldering of fine-pitch components, and electronics repair.
  • Experience with drones, robotics, embedded electronics, sensor systems, GNSS, IMU, or radio systems.
  • Drone flying experience, including practical operation, preparation, testing, or troubleshooting of drone-based systems.
  • Experience working in a small R&D team where flexibility, practical problem solving, and ownership are required.
  • Experience with GNSS and IMU positioning systems.
  • Experience with radio transceivers and antenna systems.

Working at UMag

By joining UMag, you will be working together with a highly dedicated team of software and hardware engineers as well as geophysicists with years of experience in the development and testing of drone magnetic solutions for various applications.

We offer great flexibility in the position with the option to work from home when tasks allow.

Salary is offered according to qualifications. The position is permanent and full-time.

Our office is located in Blokken 44, 3460 Birkerød. We are continuously improving our workspace with top-notch facilities, including a workshop, demining test field, and a lab where our hardware engineers and students can produce mock-ups and prototypes.
