Stillingsbeskrivelsen fra UMag Solutions

Do you want to be part of a leading High-Tech company, deeply engaged in drone magnetic demining hardware-software solutions?

About us

UMag Solutions is a High-Tech company founded in Copenhagen in 2018. Our trade is drone magnetic technology, using in-house developed survey systems and software solutions.

At UMag, we strongly believe in high quality in everything we do. Research & Development is in our DNA, and we aim to always push the technological and operational boundaries for what is possible. We want to set the standards for high-quality drone magnetic surveying, whether it be for detection of UXO kilometres offshore, across complex tidal flats, or in magnetically noisy harbors, or small mines and ammunition on land. We aim to go farther, go faster, go safer.

UMag Solutions provide world-class drone magnetic solutions for safe and precise mapping of Unexploded ordnance (UXO). We routinely perform UXO surveys in areas such as and including: shooting ranges, beaches, km-wide complex tidal flats, deeper channels, harbors, and any near-coastal zone out to 4-5 km from shore and with up to 20/30m water depth. Our main focus is drone magnetic mine detection, where our V2MAG™ system is currently the world’s most sensitive drone magnetic mine detection solution.

Job Description

At UMag Solutions, we develop high-performance drone-based magnetic survey systems used for UXO detection in harsh environments—at sea, in harbors, on tidal flats, and on land. Our systems must be lightweight, durable, and highly reliable, often operating in remote areas under tough conditions.

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team and support the design, development, and production of mechanical components for our next-generation systems. You’ll work on everything from enclosure design and payload structures to composite parts and 3D-printed components, collaborating closely with our production team, as well as with electronics and software engineers.

This is a permanent, full-time position, ideal for an engineer who enjoys a hands-on approach, frequent prototyping, and turning well-thought-out designs into robust, field-ready hardware.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical parts and assemblies for drone payloads, ruggedized enclosures, and support equipment;
  • Model and draft components in CAD (SolidWorks)
  • Work with composite materials and additive manufacturing techniques as part of lightweight, structural designs
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure manufacturability and efficient assembly
  • Select appropriate materials and production methods based on environmental and mechanical requirements
  • Assist in prototyping using in-house 3D printing, machining, and outsourced manufacturing
  • Support design validation via simulations, test fitting, and field testing
  • Document mechanical designs and prepare production-ready drawings and BOMs
  • Participate in system integration, testing, and field troubleshooting when needed

Qualifications

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design and prototyping
  • Experience designing for both CNC and additive manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with composite materials (e.g. carbon fiber, fiberglass) and their design constraints
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Solidworks
  • Solid understanding of DFM/DFA and working with low- to medium-volume production
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and workshop tools
  • Experience with mechanical design for harsh environments (vibration, water, dust, etc.)
  • Ability to collaborate closely with electronics, software, and production teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

Other Qualifications

  • Experience designing for drones, robotics, or field equipment
  • Experience designing Defence and Rugged products
  • Knowledge of waterproof sealing, thermal management, and shock protection
  • Background working with multi-material assemblies and rapid iteration cycles
  • Familiarity with basic electronics packaging and EMI shielding considerations

Working at UMag

By joining UMag, you will be working together with a highly dedicated team of software and hardware engineers as well as magnetic specialists with years of experience in the development, production and deployment of drone magnetic solutions for various applications.

We offer great flexibility in the position with the option to work from home when tasks allow. Salary is offered according to qualifications. The position is permanent and full-time.

We are located in Blokken 44, 3460 Birkerød, 25 minutes north of central Copenhagen by train. We are continuously improving our workspace with top-notch facilities, among other things, a workshop, demining test field, and a high-tech lab where our hardware engineers can produce mock-ups and prototypes.
