Product Owner - Eurowind Energy
Product Owner
Do you know what separates a backlog a team can build from and a backlog a team has to decode? We are looking for an experienced Product Owner who wants backlog craftsmanship to be the centre of the job — across three software teams building the platforms that run Eurowind's energy parks and energy trading.
Who we are
Eurowind Energy is a global and leading developer, owner and operator of energy parks. Based in Denmark, we operate in 16 countries around Europe and in the USA, and we are continuously growing our project portfolio. We believe in a future of renewable energy, and we have an ambitious plan of becoming the next generation's "Power Major". Based on a full value chain from greenfield project development to energy trading, more than 700 team members are dedicated to creating a greener future fueled with nothing but renewable energy!
We are looking for an experienced Product Owner to join our IT Software department. Based at our head office in Hobro, Denmark, you will have your home base in our Automation & Masterdata team — and you will be the Product Owner who owns the backlog itself across all three of our software teams.
The backlog is yours, across three teams
IT Software runs three development teams — Trading & Monitoring, Automation & Masterdata, and Explore & Interact — with more than 15 engineers between them. We have deliberately split product ownership across three people with different centres of gravity rather than one generalist per team. One of your two Product Owner colleagues also holds the Scrum Master role and owns how we work: ceremonies, flow and continuous improvement. The other also holds project management and owns delivery towards the business: timelines, dependencies and stakeholder commitments. You will own the third piece — the backlog itself.
Your day-to-day home is the Automation & Masterdata team, where six developers and a team lead build the automation, data and masterdata foundation the rest of the business relies on. But because a backlog standard is only worth something if it is the same everywhere, your work will touch stories in all three teams.
Work reaches you from two directions. Larger projects and initiatives come in through our IT Portfolio Manager, who owns intake and demand at portfolio level, so a good share of what lands in the backlog arrives already framed and prioritised at a high level. The rest comes straight from the business, often as a half-formed idea from someone who knows their own domain far better than they know software. Turning both kinds into work a team can pick up is where you make the difference.
Own the backlog as the single source of truth — capture, structure and maintain epics, stories and bugs so the teams always know what is next and why
Refine feature requests into clear, testable items with acceptance criteria that hold up when development starts
Set and maintain a shared standard for how work is written across the three teams, so a story reads the same whether it originates in Trading, Automation or Explore
Make priority and scope calls together with your two Product Owner colleagues, the team leads and our solution architect
Partner with our IT Portfolio Manager on larger projects and initiatives, and handle direct requests from the business for everything else
Work with stakeholders across Operations, Trading, Commercial, BI and GIS to turn business needs into work the teams can act on
Support release readiness — approve completed items and help stakeholders understand what is coming
Keep Jira and Confluence trustworthy, so progress, dependencies and blockers are visible without anyone having to ask
Help shape how we use AI in product work — we are currently building Claude skills that support user story intake and refinement, and this role has a real say in how far we take that
You will not be doing this in isolation. The three of you meet weekly with the team leads and our architect, and you will have a direct line to the developers whose week your backlog shapes.
Clear boundaries, real ownership
We lead with direction and mandate rather than detailed instruction. You will get the expectations and the boundaries agreed up front, and from there you decide how the work gets done. That only works if the roles around you are clear — which is why we have written down and agreed what the Manager, Product Owner, Scrum Master, Solution Architect and Team Lead each own, so you know where your decisions start and where they hand over.
Real mandate over the backlog across three teams, and genuine influence on how the department works
Two Product Owner colleagues, a Scrum Master, a solution architect and three team leads to spar with — this is not a role where you are the only one thinking about product
A department leaning into AI in practice rather than in theory — we use it daily and are actively building Claude skills for user story intake and refinement, with the ambition of taking the mechanical part of backlog work off your plate so you can spend your time on the judgement calls
A department in the middle of building its platforms, so what you shape now will still be visible in a few years
Flexible working hours and the option to work from home
Lunch scheme, coffee, tea and fruit, discount agreements and a bonus scheme
An international environment with colleagues in 16 countries, where English is a natural part of everyday work
You will report to Daniel Otkjær, Senior Manager, Software Development, and become part of the leadership group in IT Software.
Required competencies and skills
This is a senior position. Because the standard you set reaches every story in three teams, we are looking for someone who has done product ownership before and knows what a well-written backlog is worth on a busy week. We put weight on the following:
Several years of experience as a Product Owner in a software environment, ideally across more than one team or product
Demonstrated experience with backlog management, refinement and writing acceptance criteria that survive contact with development
Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps or similar tools; Confluence is an advantage
Openness to working with AI as part of the job is a clear advantage, and hands-on experience using it for intake, refinement, documentation or stakeholder work is even better
The ability to hold a shared standard across teams through clarity and collaboration rather than formal authority
Comfortable moving between audiences — you can talk to a trader, an operations specialist and a developer on the same day and meet each of them where they are
Structured in your approach, and at ease when priorities shift at short notice, which they will in a company growing in several directions at once
Fluent in English in speech and writing; Danish is an advantage
Knowledge of energy trading or the renewable energy sector is a plus, but something you can learn with us
A formal certification such as CSPO or SAFe Product Owner is a plus, but not a requirement — what matters most is what you have actually run.
Please note that this role requires a clean criminal record. A security clearance may become relevant later in the employment, but it is not required in order to apply.
Renewable energy is our future. And so are our people!
At Eurowind Energy we do our best to create a culture where everyone is valued and feels at home. You will notice this in your everyday work life, where you have the freedom to speak up and where your voice means something to us. We know that when you grow, we grow. Therefore, we strive to support you in what you believe is right and in your personal and professional development. We offer you an exciting job in an energetic and international environment. And we promise you: the wind is never standing still.
Developing, operating and managing wind and solar parks is not just pure business for us. It is a way to view the world. And with this worldview comes a genuine ambition to be one of the leading developers in Europe. Because creating a future run entirely on green energy matters to us.
We manage our own portfolio of projects and at the same time, we perform technical and financial management of projects. We have throughout many years experienced sustained economic growth in the number of developed projects and companies in management. And we continue to expect this. Simply because it is in our nature to keep developing - projects, companies and our people.
