Jobbeskrivelse
Om jobbet
Stillingsbeskrivelsen fra DTU Compute
The aim of this project is to develop technologies for creating building information models of existing built structures. This is part of a larger goal of using digital techniques to support sustainability in construction - specifically by making it easier to repurpose buildings.
Responsibilities
You will work within the area of visual computing. Much of the work will be based on machine learning and in particular vision language models. The use of generative methods will be central to your research whose overarching goal is to study how it is possible to extract information about a construction from photographs and other data sources and generate a precise building information model with little or no user input.
You will be affiliated with CEBE (Civil Engineering and the green transition in the Built Environment) which is a Danish cross-university research programme focusing on the sustainable development of the built environment. CEBE’s vision is to promote science-based circular, low-carbon and resilient built environment within planetary boundaries. CEBE is supported by the Villum Foundation.
You will be matriculated at the DTU Compute PhD School, employed at DTU Compute, and embedded in the Section for Visual Computing. The Section for Visual Computing is focused on medical image analysis, geometry and appearance modelling, computer vision, multivariate statistics for images and analysis of 3D microstructures. Within these areas, our overarching research aim is to make methodological contributions of broad applicability but motivated by applications.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have a background in visual computing (computer graphics and computer vision), a good understanding of the basics of computer-aided design and machine learning. These qualifications must be underpinned by a strong background in applied mathematics.
You must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree.
Approval and Enrolment
The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. For information about our enrolment requirements and the general planning of the PhD study programme, please see DTU's rules for the PhD education.
