Description & Expectation

Quadsat is looking for an experienced RF Systems & Hardware Engineer to join the RF team working on SpectraLoc, our defense product for detection, analysis, and geolocation of RF emitters.

This role will focus on RF front-end architecture, coherent receiver design, RF chain optimization, PCB design and layout, measurement integrity, and the continued productization of SpectraLoc. You will help strengthen the RF hardware foundation needed for robust product performance, certification readiness, and future next-generation RF architectures.

SpectraLoc combines RF sensing payloads, drone-based operations, mission control software, signal processing, geolocation algorithms, and operator-facing workflows into one integrated product. You will work closely with engineers spanning from RF, DSP, software, embedded, and FPGA specialist, with your primary focus being to improve RF system quality, hardware robustness, and the measurement integrity of the sensing chain.

Responsibilities:

Your main responsibility will be to develop, improve, and mature RF hardware and RF system architectures that support reliable RF sensing, geolocation, and future coherent receiver capabilities.

You will:

  • Design, develop, and optimize RF front-end architectures for RF sensing and geolocation applications.
  • Contribute to coherent receiver design, multi-channel RF architectures, and future direction-finding capabilities based on phase-coherent RF measurements.
  • Design and improve RF chains, including filtering, amplification, frequency conversion, gain distribution, dynamic range, noise figure, linearity, and sensitivity trade-offs.
  • Support PCB design and layout for RF circuits, including component selection, schematic design, layout review, signal integrity, grounding, shielding, and manufacturability.
  • Improve measurement integrity across the RF sensing chain by identifying and reducing sources of uncertainty, drift, phase error, loss, interference, leakage, and calibration sensitivity.
  • Plan and perform RF measurements, verification, and troubleshooting using relevant RF test equipment such as spectrum analysers, VNAs, signal generators, power meters, and related tools.
  • Work with DSP and software engineers to ensure that RF hardware behavior, calibration data, and system limitations are understood and properly reflected in algorithm development and product performance.
  • Support product robustness, certification readiness, and design-for-manufacturing activities by improving RF hardware quality, documentation, repeatability, and testability.
  • Provide technical leadership within RF systems and hardware, helping raise the quality of Quadsat’s RF design, validation methodology, and overall sensing performance.

Knowledge & Skills:

We envision that you have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Microwave Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field, combined with strong practical experience in RF hardware development for RF sensing, SDR, radar, electronic warfare, SATCOM, aerospace, telecom, test and measurement, or other advanced RF systems.

More important than the exact degree is that you have hands-on experience designing, validating, and improving RF systems where measurement quality, robustness, and system performance matter.

In addition, you bring:

  • Strong practical experience with RF front-end design, RF chain architecture, and RF hardware development.
  • Experience with RF circuit design and PCB design/layout for high-frequency systems.
  • Solid understanding of RF system trade-offs, including gain, noise figure, dynamic range, linearity, filtering, frequency conversion, phase noise, spurious signals, leakage, and sensitivity.
  • Practical experience with RF measurement, verification, debugging, and calibration using professional RF test equipment.
  • Understanding of coherent RF systems, including phase stability, synchronization, channel matching, LO distribution, timing effects, and calibration considerations.
  • Familiarity with antenna interfaces, propagation effects, polarization, multipath, and how RF hardware behavior affects sensing and geolocation performance.
  • Ability to define test methods, performance metrics, acceptance criteria, and validation approaches for RF hardware and RF sensing systems.
  • Experience collaborating with DSP, software, embedded, FPGA, mechanical, robotics, and product teams to turn RF hardware concepts into robust product capabilities.
  • A proactive mindset, strong ownership, and the ability to work independently while staying aligned with broader product and engineering priorities.

It would be highly advantageous if you also have experience with electronic warfare, radar systems, SIGINT, RF surveillance, phased arrays, coherent multi-channel receivers, interferometry, monopulse tracking, beamforming, calibration of RF sensing systems, MIL-STD certification, environmental robustness, SDR platforms, or transitioning RF hardware from prototype into production.

Our Dynamic Work Environment:

Quadsat is at an exciting stage of our growth journey where you can make a meaningful impact with your work, and directly influence the development of advanced solutions. You will join a diverse team of innovative colleagues who are passionate about working with new technology development. Our work environment is characterised by a high degree of openness, a flat management structure, and a strong sense of community where we work closely together on tasks.

You will be part of a driven engineering team across software, RF, robotics, and product development, with opportunities for professional growth, increased responsibility, and close involvement in real product innovation. We value initiative, collaboration, high-quality engineering, and people who want their work to matter beyond the codebase.
