Om jobbet
Stillingsbeskrivelsen fra GomSpace
Do you want to develop software that runs both in space and on Earth? We are expanding our software organization and are looking for skilled Software Engineers to build reliable, high‑quality software for satellites and their ground‑based counterparts.
About the job
We are looking for experienced Software Engineers to work across embedded platforms and ground‑based systems. You will contribute to software running on embedded devices onboard satellites as well as data processing and communication systems deployed on standard server infrastructure.
The role combines embedded development on RTOS and embedded Linux platforms with modern C/C++ and Python development, CI/CD and DevOps practices, and close collaboration with customers and internal support teams. You will also provide second-line support and technical training to customers on system usage, APIs, and troubleshooting.
Your tasks include:
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded software using Zephyr RTOS, and Yocto-based embedded Linux
- Implement low-level drivers, middleware, and application software for satellite and communication systems
- Develop and maintain applications running on Linux systems that act as the ground-based counterpart to the embedded communication systems in space
- Create and maintain automated hardware-in-the-loop tests
- Participate in board bring-up, debugging, optimization, and long-term maintenance
Short- and Long-Term Success
In the first 1–3 months, success means:
- Handle second line support cases professionally and collaboratively
- Demonstrate ownership by following issues through to resolution
- Contribute positively to team culture and cross disciplinary collaboration and understand the way of working in GomSpace.
In the longer term, you’ll demonstrate deep expertise in embedded communication systems and platforms and improve overall software quality through architecture, testing, and automation initiatives.
Your profile
You are a structured and analytical software engineer with high attention to quality. You are comfortable taking ownership of complex technical tasks and enjoy working both independently and as part of a team. You are curious, motivated, and responsible, and you thrive in environments where software reliability and long‑term maintainability matter. You communicate fluently in both written and spoken English.
Qualifications
- Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in embedded software development.
- Strong proficiency in modern C/C++ and Python and experience with Zephyr RTOS and Yocto‑based embedded Linux, as well as native Linux development (ARM and x86).
- Hands‑on experience with Git‑based development and automated testing practices.
- Experience working with one or more of the following platforms: Xilinx Zynq‑7000, NXP i.MX RT, AVR32, STM32.
