Stillingsbeskrivelsen fra DUOS A/S
Are you skilled at reading non-verbal communication and able to create calm in a one-to-one relationship? This is an important role in creating safe and meaningful moments for a girl who needs clear structure.
About the role
We are looking for a support worker for an 11-year-old girl diagnosed with childhood autism and a moderate intellectual disability. She does not have verbal language skills and does not understand Danish, but she can understand short messages in English.
She thrives in calm surroundings with predictability and clear boundaries. She enjoys being outdoors, going for walks and being around water, and she takes pleasure in music and physical closeness. At the same time, noise and large groups of people can affect her, and she needs an adult who can read her signals and help her withdraw in time.
Your role is to create calm and meaningful moments with the girl and provide respite for the family. You will support her in activities and social interaction, and help her remain calm if she becomes overstimulated. Support with toilet visits will also be required.
About you
You are a qualified social educator, or you are unqualified but have experience working with children with autism and intellectual disabilities—or relevant experience from similar roles. You work in a structured way and can adapt your approach to a child without verbal language skills.
You are used to reading body language and responding calmly and clearly. You can create predictability and adjust expectations so that the girl feels safe in the interaction. It is important that you can communicate in English using short, simple sentences.
English-speaking applicants are welcome to apply.
Working hours
The position is for 6 hours per week, distributed as follows:
- Wednesday: 4:00 pm–7:00 pm
- Friday: 2:00 pm–5:00 pm
We offer
You will become part of a family-owned company with many dedicated employees. You will have a permanent adviser available for guidance and support. Outside office hours, there is always a staffed on-call telephone line, so you are never on your own.
Salary and pension are in accordance with the collective agreement between FOA and Dansk Erhverv. You are covered by DUOS’ liability and occupational injury insurance, and health insurance is included in your pension scheme. We offer a wide range of courses, relevant onboarding and ongoing professional development as a DUOS employee. Working with people at DUOS will also help you develop both personally and professionally.
