Data Scientist for Department of Biology

We are Earth scientists who accumulate large data sets on the composition of sedimentary rocks in geologic time on modern sediments from throughout the world. Our ambition is to generate coupled interactive data sets, where data can be easily extracted, and compared with other literature data sets. What we need is a data scientist to help us organize and curate our data, to extract data from the literature and to generate computational platforms for data analysis. A GIS framework will be important for some of the data organization analyses.

Overall, we need someone who is motivated, with good ideas as to how data bases can be organized and manipulated and with skills using GIS. To be considered for this position the applicants should have a PhD degree. 

The data scientist will be part of the Nordcee research group and specifically the Canfield Villum group exploring the relationship between the evolution of the Earth’s
chemical environment and the evolution of life. The position is based at the Department of Biology.

The position will run from February 1 2027 until June 30, 2029.

Salary and employment terms

Salary is determined in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and based on objective and gender-neutral criteria, including the content of the position, responsibilities, and qualification requirements.

Employment shall take place in accordance with the framework agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
